PIONEERS POWER: The Cal State East Bay women”s softball team bounced back in a big way from a four-game losing streak by sweeping a doubleheader against visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills, 12-4, 5-1. The team was also honored with a resolution by Assembly member Bill Quirk in Sacramento. Eric Swalwell, D-Hayward, offered the Gladiators his congratulations from the House floor. The team has already been presented a Certificate of Commendation by the Hayward City Council. On Tuesday, the team will be honored by the Chabot-Las Positas CCD board of trustees and Chabot College President Susan Sperling.
The California Community College Athletic Association website noted the honors for the team. Today they”re 27-8 overall, 13-5 in conference, and a game out of first place. Last season, when Luquet was an assistant coach, the Vikings finished 11-25 overall and 3-18 in the Big 8 Conference.
